Ludwig Hoeksema
Ludwig is an industrial and organizational psychologist. At SMC he conducts (self)evaluations of management and supervisory boards. He provides strategic advice to organizations regarding organizational development and change, including merger processes and cultural change. He is focused on improving ‘Boardroom dynamics’ and the direct and indirect governance of behavior and behavioral change. He has experience in various sectors such as professional and financial services, healthcare, education, manufacturing, and energy. Ludwig’s style can be described as analytical, creative, connecting, goal-oriented and loyal.
He started his career in 1989 at Erasmus University in Rotterdam and Hogervorst Consultants. In 1995 he obtained his PhD on the topic “Learning Strategy as a guide to career success in organizations”. In 1996 he started working for Coopers & Lybrand, where, as an internal consultant, he was closely involved in the integration processes that led to the creation of PwC. In 2004 he became managing director of strategic personnel management at Berenschot. He joined the board in 2010, where he fulfilled various roles until 2016.
In addition to being a partner at SMC, he is a member of the Supervisory Board of Rabobank Noord Veluwe and a member of the General Members Council of Rabobank (until the end of 2023), guest lecturer at the School of Business & Economics at the Vrije Universiteit (since 2013), chairman of the Supervisory Board of educational consultancy firm Stichting CED Groep and co-owner of EVC Centrum Vigor.
Ludwig regularly publishes in the field of Supervision, Strategy, HRM and Learning. In 2022 he published “End of strategy!?” (together with Ard-Pieter de Man and Anna Plotnikova, “Einde van Strategie!? Tussen wendbaarheid en koers houden” Stichting SMS/Mediawerf). Before that, his Poldering at a world stage (2021) was published about the theory and practice of governing intermediate holding companies in the Netherlands.
